NMR LipoProfile® + Standard Lipid Panel — Advanced Cholesterol Particle Assessment
This cardiovascular risk panel combines advanced cholesterol particle testing with a standard lipid panel to provide a more complete assessment of cholesterol and lipoprotein-related risk.
The NMR LipoProfile® measures the number and size of cholesterol-carrying particles, including LDL particle number, HDL particle number, small LDL particles, LDL size, and LP-IR insulin resistance score.
The standard LabCorp Lipid Panel, test #303756, is included to provide the traditional cholesterol values that patients and physicians commonly expect, including total cholesterol, LDL-C, HDL-C, triglycerides, and VLDL cholesterol. Non-HDL cholesterol can be calculated from these values. LabCorp lists Lipid Panel as test number 303756.
What’s Included
NMR LipoProfile®:
LDL Particle Number (LDL-P)
Small LDL Particle Number
LDL Particle Size
HDL Particle Number (HDL-P)
LP-IR Score
Standard Lipid Panel, LabCorp #303756:
Total Cholesterol
LDL Cholesterol
HDL Cholesterol
Triglycerides
VLDL Cholesterol
Additional marker:
Apolipoprotein B (ApoB), if ordered with the panel
What This Test Can Tell You
This panel helps determine whether cholesterol risk is driven by elevated LDL particle number, small dense LDL particles, insulin resistance patterns, or standard cholesterol abnormalities. It is useful for patients with high cholesterol, family history of heart disease, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, coronary calcium, or those monitoring response to diet, lifestyle, supplement, or medical therapy.
Important Note
This test does not directly measure oxidized LDL, inflammation, plaque, or endothelial injury. Those require separate testing or clinical interpretation in the context of additional labs and cardiovascular history.
