Comprehensive STD Screening Panel
Confidential | Physician Ordered
This panel provides comprehensive screening for the most common sexually transmitted infections using a combination of urine and blood testing.
It is appropriate for:
-
Routine screening
-
New sexual partners
-
Symptoms such as discharge, burning, rash, sores
-
Peace-of-mind testing
-
Follow-up after exposure
What This Panel Includes
Urine Testing (NAAT – Highly Sensitive DNA Testing)
Urine testing is used to detect bacterial STDs using nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT). This method identifies genetic material of the organism and is the gold standard for detection.
Tests include:
-
Chlamydia trachomatis
-
Neisseria gonorrhoeae
-
(Optional add-on: Trichomonas vaginalis)
Urine testing is non-invasive and does not require a swab in most cases.
Blood Testing
Blood testing screens for infections that circulate systemically.
Included:
-
HIV (4th Generation Antigen/Antibody)
-
Syphilis (RPR with reflex confirmation)
-
Hepatitis B
-
Hepatitis C
These tests detect antibodies and/or antigens that indicate current or past infection.
Specimen Requirements & Preparation
Urine Collection Instructions
-
First-catch urine is required.
-
Do not urinate for at least 1 hour prior to collection.
-
Collect the initial portion of urine stream (not midstream).
-
No fasting required.
Blood Collection
-
No fasting required.
-
Hydrate well before blood draw.
-
Results typically available within 2–4 business days.
Why Urine NAAT Testing Is Preferred for Gonorrhea & Chlamydia
NAAT testing:
-
Detects DNA of the organism
-
Highly sensitive and specific
-
Superior to culture methods
-
Recommended by CDC as first-line screening
Urine testing avoids unnecessary swabs unless throat or rectal exposure requires site-specific testing.
Turnaround Time
Results generally available within 2–4 business days after specimen collection.
